Don Drake

Bio

Don Drake has been appointed as the head football coach of Ennis High School, bringing extensive experience and a proven track record in high school football coaching. Prior to this role, he served as the athletic director for Ennis ISD since 2019.



Drake’s coaching career includes a 13-year tenure as head football coach at McKinney Boyd High School from 2006 to 2018, where he compiled a record of 68-73. Under his leadership, the team achieved multiple playoff appearances, notably reaching a 4A Division I regional final in 2007 with a 9-4 record.



Before his time at McKinney Boyd, Drake served as offensive coordinator at McKinney North High School, The Colony High School, and Airline High School in Louisiana. He holds a degree from Louisiana Tech University and a master’s degree from Centenary College of Louisiana.



Drake’s appointment reflects his deep understanding of Ennis High School’s traditions and high expectations. Superintendent Jay Tullos stated, “We realized the best individual to continue the success of our football program was Coach Drake.”
